One neon palette. Seven apps. A website that lets you try it all.
Nicely Neon is my own free, open-source theme for VS Code, Cursor, PyCharm, macOS Terminal, iTerm2, Windows Terminal, and Google Chrome. I created the color system and built the website around it, from the glowing wordmark to an interactive syntax playground and a searchable directory that helps developers find the right theme for their app.
Every color has a job
I designed the palette around seven accent colors on a charcoal background, then mapped them to syntax, selections, and interface states. Hot pink, violet, electric blue, cool cyan, signal green, warm yellow, and alert red each have a role. The website makes that system interactive: select a hue to see its purpose and copy its hex value.
Try the color before you install
The redesigned site opens with a glowing rainbow wordmark, then puts the theme in your hands. Switch between TypeScript, Python, and CSS in the editor preview, or toggle neon off and on to compare the same code. A dedicated theme directory lets you search by app and filter editors, terminals, and browsers, with a separate installation page for each one.
Built by me. Free for everyone.
I published Nicely Neon on the Visual Studio Marketplace for VS Code and made it available for Cursor through Open VSX. Alongside the PyCharm scheme and macOS Terminal profile, the collection now includes iTerm2, Windows Terminal, and Google Chrome. The theme directory brings all seven apps together with installation instructions. Every version is free, and the source is open for anyone who wants to explore it.
